How long will it take to receive my finished job?

Circle Services now offers a 48 Hour Turnaround service for all our products, not including brochures or takeaway menus.

What is ‘bleed’?

Bleed is needed to ensure your finished product looks its best. Images, background colours and other fills, which are intended to print to the trimmed edge of the page, should be extended 3mm beyond the edge to give a ‘bleed’ and allow for any movement during the cutting process.

What is CMYK?

‘Four Colour Process Printing’, which is also known as ‘Full Colour Printing’, is a widely used printing technique.

The system uses four base colours – Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and blacK – and, by using combinations of these in various tints, it is possible to produce virtually every colour imaginable!

What is the difference between ‘Digital’ and ‘Litho’ printing?

Digital printing allows a job to go directly from a computer file, straight to the plate, eliminating the need for films.

Alternatively, lithology is a process where a plate is specially coated so ink only sticks to dry areas of the plate. The inked image is then transferred – or offset – on to a rubber blanket, which then makes an impression on the paper

Quantities under 1,000 on our website are digitally printed.

What is the difference between the different weights of paper – 130gsm, 170gsm and 350gsm?

Paper and card are specified by their weight in grams per square metre, which is listed as GSM or GM.

For example, fax or photocopier paper is usually 80gsm, a high quality letterhead is 120gsm, a leaflet is 130gsm/170gsm, a flyer, postcard or a high quality business card is 350gsm. However, these can be changed to accommodate for personal preferences, with higher GSM often making a finished product feel like it is of a higher quality.

As thickness is measured by the paper's weight, one manufacturer's sample of 170gsm paper may seem slightly stiffer or bulkier than a competitor's product. In addition, uncoated papers tend to be bulkier than the coated equivalent.

However, as a rule of thumb, a paper's GSM rating is a good guide to show how thick or stiff the paper will feel.
